Why is envy green? I didn't find an answer, but the title track from "Axis: Bold as Love" is an old favorite.

According to Jimi H., red, green, and purple emotions get us in trouble (pride, envy, & anger), whereas blue, turquoise, orange, and yellow are more virtuous (patience, fortitude, courage, humility -- or something like that). I like orange. This post is dedicated to rainbows.
