Filing Systems and Records Management
From a garage sale in Berkeley, a 1960s business-school text on filing systems and records management (Kahn, Yerian, & Stewart).
Steps in the filing process: (1) Inspecting, (2) Indexing, (3) Coding, (4) Sorting, (5) Storing
Chapter Six: Numeric Filing
The use of numerals to identify records has many advantages to alphabetic indexing.
Chapter Nine: Equipment and Supplies
Relative Cost to Maintain a Standard Four-Drawer Cabinet: 3% Cabinet, 12% Supplies, 21% Floor Space and Overhead, 64% Salary (clerks then earned $50/wk), total annual cost = $335
This post is dedicated to computers. Wow.
