Re: World Peace
Tonight I learned that the word "world" and "peace" are the same in Russian. They were not the same until Russian discarded "i" from its alphabet (replaced by the Cyrillic equivalent "и" in the 19th century). That's interesting, or scary. I asked a translator for "world peace" in Russian and "мир во всем мире" (i.e., "peace in all the world") was the answer, a special case? ["мировой мир", to be less idiomatic] Dick Cheney probably agrees.
